The Japan Dietetic Association (JDA) was founded in 1926 for the purpose of preventing the spread of beriberi, a typical nutrition-related disease that had existed in Japan for a long time.
Thereafter, the JDA has contributed significantly to maintaining the nation's health through various activities designed to improve nutrition. Since 1959 the JDA has been affiliated with the International Dietetics Association.
In 2007 the JDA has about 57,685 members who are registered dietitians or dietitians licensed by the National Government. |
