| Fellowship from Southeast Asia

At the request of the Foundation of International Medical and Technical Exchanges, the Japan Dietetic Association accepted two fellowship trainees from Philippines and Malaysia in fiscal years 2000. Their names were Mr. Daniel Supent Tagurao from Philippines and Mr. Didozoni Sulaiman from Malaysia. They were dietitians who came from their own national hospitals, and took part in the training course held at Seibu Hospital attached to Saint Marianna University in Yokohama. This is the reason why I asked Ms. Yuka Kitamura, RD of the Division of Nutrition at the hospital, to give a brief report of her impression on them. They returned home after saying that they had learnt a lot from Japanese dietitians and would never forget the kindness and cooperation extended to them forever. |

The Division of Nutrition at Seibu Hospital of Saint Marianna University has been accepting over a period of three years dietetic trainees from Southeast Asian countries through the Japan Dietetic Association under the sponsorship of the Foundation of International Medical and Technical Exchanges.
Last year, we ran a training course for two trainees from Philippines and Malaysia at the hospital from September 19 to November 22. They were humorous, bright and cheerful so that we could complete the course very successfully. On their departure from Japan, they said that, in spite of this being their first visit to Japan, they could really enjoy the Japanese life. They also said that Japanese people have been benefiting from a wonderful period of computer development.
I tried very hard to learn English so that I could conduct the training course smoothly and so I could communicate to each other in English without much difficulty.
I am very proud of such dietetic training at the hospital, and I would like to accept more trainees from overseas at our hospital in the future. It is my hope that our training course would contribute to further develop the mutual exchange of friendship among dietitians of the countries concerned. |
